"For anyone who wanted to ask what is it like to have a disability or to live with a disabled family member but was too embarrassed or afraid to ask, this exhibit, with its welcoming stance, offers a straightforward, easily accessible opportunity to learn. All too often people with disabilities are stereotypically cast as tragic objects of pity or as inspiring heroes who struggled to overcome their disabilities. Here instead we meet everyday people whose stories are about overcoming not their disabilities, but discrimination. They tell of hard won achievements, wide-ranging interests, meaningful hobbies, bodily differences, innovative problem-solving, frustrating barriers and complicated balancing acts, but above all, of living full lives as friends, family members and participants in their communities."

The University of Denver's Disability Services Program & Learning Effectiveness Program is celebrating its 25th anniversity this month and The Road to Freedom has provided us with a number of programming opportunities.
